Pin-up Model, Trisha Trixie, has been designing clothing since high school. Two years ago she used her love for fashion to create Trisha Trixie’s Designs, a company where she designs custom, couture aprons.
Trixie designs her aprons in her home office, with the help of her “office cats”. She has designed aprons in many different styles for a variety of different clients and events including trade shows, comic-cons, bridal gifts, fashion shows, and lingerie aprons. Clients can custom order their aprons. Trixie’s favorite aprons are the ones that she made her own textiles for.
Trixie finds inspiration for her aprons from New York and California fashion as well high fashion magazines. She also uses her own original sense of style to design her aprons. “My friends in high school would even tell you; I never followed a trend,” said Trixie.
Trixie has participated in fashion shows from Des Moines to New York. In Des Moines, Trisha Trixie aprons have walked runway at Lutheran Care Services and Java Joes coffee shop.
Trixie enjoys running her own business and working by for herself. “I don’t want to work for the man. I want to earn my own money,” said Trixie. “I don’t want to help somebody else be rich. I don’t want to help someone else make money. I want that money.” However she doesn’t work completely on her own. She had the “Trixie Tribe.” The ”Trixie Tribe” is a group of people who volunteer to help her with tasks such as hanging up flyers, publicity, and sewing. She also has an intern who assists her with designs.
Along with Trixie’s apron business she has started a Be Fabulous campaign to inspire people to be fabulous no matter what kinds of bumps life throws at them. Trixie recalled some tough times in her life that helped inspire the campaign. “I want women to know that you can go from fragile to fabulous and that you can really make a difference in your life,” said Trixie. The mantra for Trixie’s Be Fabulous campaign is, “When given the option of being fabulous why would you choose anything else.”
