Protected bike lanes have hit Des Moines in the past month, but not without confusion.

t bike lanes have been installed. The lanes This is an initiative by Des Moines City Council to make the city more bike-friendly.
Although the lanes have helped bikers, drivers have already been confused about the separation from the lanes and where to park.
Pedestrians have also started using the lanes as another sidewalk.
The solution, however, is not permanent. City council is taking a year to gather feedback from the lanes before putting up concrete walls between the lanes and the road.
