On Wednesday, February 14th, students from the Drake University Choir will be performing singing valentines for community members in the Des Moines Metro Area. Drake University’s live bulldog mascot, Griff, will also be joining the choir for several performances in the community. Singing valentines were able to be purchased by community members up until February 9th and will be performed to their selected loved ones to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Past performances have been done anywhere from schools and businesses to construction sites and hospitals.
Aimee Beckmann-Collier, the director of choral studies at Drake University, said that community members who will receive singing valentines are in for a unique experience.
Although the deadline has passed to purchase singing valentines for this year, Des Moines area community members can be on the lookout for performances in the community from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.
