Curling is thought of as more an Olympic sport than something a group of weekend warriors play together. But every Friday night the members of the Des Moines CurlingClub do just that.
Curling has been rising in popularity across the country and many clubs have seen an increase in members, the Des Moines Curling Club being no exception.
Ken Keffer has been curling for almost nine years but this is his first year in Des Moines as a member of the club. He says there definitely a bump in interest for curling during the Olympics. Over half the members are first time curlers this year. But according to Ken the game is easy to pick up but difficult to master.
The club meets every Friday at 5:00 p.m. If you have any interest checkout their website at www.dmcurling.com
