Swirling lights, killer singing and dancing and a compelling story of love, loss and the pursuit of happiness is what you may see if you make a trip to the Garden nightclub next weekend for Kata Klysmic Productions take on Hedwig and The Angry Inch. This live concert experience features Drake theatre student, Connor Ripperger in the lead.
This show was a Broadway hit and is now being brought to Des Moines. “Expect it all,” said Ripperger when asked what audiences can expect from the show. The show is about a fictional rock and roll band lead by East German genderqueer, Hedwig Robinson. The story follows her journey through life and it’s natural problems. The show is directed by Drake alum, Emily Davis, choreographed by current Drake student Erin Besser, and music directed by Ben Hagen. The show features a two person cast of Ripperger (Hedwig) and Rachel Meyer (Yitzak).
Tickets can be purchased at Kata Klysmic Productions site. The dates of this production are February 23rd and 24th, and March 2nd and 3rd at 7:30 PM and February 25th and March 4th at 4:30 PM. Tickets are $15 with a student ID at the door and $25 for all other admissions. Admission at the Garden is 18+ and 21+ to be served at the bar.
